Hi Monique,

I came across your vlog's through Democracy Player. I have just watched "Branding Power: A Playful Skit" and am looking forward to watching the vlog on "Common Characteristics of Bad Website Design" which I am sure I will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately I am in India so the download speed is EXTREMELLY slow, I would agree with Missbhavens that the bigger the better although if you are unfortunate to be with a 56k modem then it’s a bad choice. Try improving the quality but lowering the size please, this way you will make it accessible to the many around the world who don't have the luxury of fast internet.

As far as your message is concerned, I think listening is the most important.
Keep up the great work!

3 ideas:
1. Look into getting a shotgun microphone, you can get a good one for under a $100.

2.Titles would break the pace

3. Finish off with a quick summary of your ideas to wrap things up.

Well, that effect I have doing almost all my videos like that, hmmm...I started vlogging in July 2005...The idea hit me around the middle of Sept, I use Final Cut Pro...if you check the Freevlog site, Extras, there is a video I made that will explain exactly how I do it...I hope you find it worthwhile...
Feel free to comment/mail me with any questions/advice/anything!

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the good advice. I like having music because it adds energy, but now that you mention it I see how music with vocals can be distracting. I'll try pure instrument for next week's vlog.

Cheers

Monique, good stuff in the video, good points to remember and act on.

Constructive criticism: I liked the music, but, sorry, as a music bed it doesn't work. It was distracting to have vocal music under your talking, and sometimes made it difficult to hear what you were saying when your speaking volume dropped, for instance, at the end of a sentence. When the video started with the music going and before you started talking, it sounded like you had music or a party in your place or the neighbor did while you were shooting the video.

Something I learned a long time ago when I was working in radio: in general, music with singing doesn't work well for a music bed under talking -- instrumental only, if youmust have music...

Best of luck with your vlog.
